As someone who has been to Disney World numerous times and has an affinity to breaking out into movie soundtracks at any given moment I am the perfect demographic for runDisney events. Robert, Andy and I ran marathon weekend two years ago and since then I have been trying to figure out who I can convince to go run a different race weekend there with me. This post isn’t exactly about runDisney and its events though- its about two companies I wish I had known about before running the two days of the Goofy Challenge for Disney workout apparel and registration simplicity.
My mind has been recently blown by the introduction of a new running company into my life called Raw Threads Athletics. As a ZOOMA Ambassador I recently got a new tank top from this company I had never heard of, a 10% off coupon to its online store, and a FREE membership to the Raw Threads Club (which mind you I had never heard of but I love the word free). The tank was extremely comfortable to run in: super soft, no problematic seams, and no bouncing up around my belly (even at 5 1/2 months pregnant). Naturally I was like, “hey, I have 10% off- I might as well look to see what other running tank tops they have.” So I went to the website and my heart exploded, excitement level skyrocketed, and need to get a higher paying job became pertinent.
Unbeknownst to me Raw Threads loves the concepts of Disney, working out, looking cute, and being punny as much as I do. We’ve been a match made in heaven and did not even know it! They have exercise t-shirts. tank tops, and long sleeves covering the Disney spectrum including: the Princesses, Toy Story, villains, Pirates of the Caribbean, Aladdin, Star Wars, Mickey & his pals, Peter Pan, and just park themed ones (to name a few). When I race another one of the runDisney races I will without a doubt be getting a tank top from there. The last time I ran I had to piecemeal both of my costumes from various stores and shops on Etsy. Although both of my costumes (Belle & Jesse) worked out for the races, knowing about this website would have made life so much easier and I wouldn’t have had the clothes issues I had because I was running long distances in items not specifically intended for running. Mind you I said I’ll be getting a tank for the next race event I run there which is true, but I am probably going to buy one much sooner as well simply because some of my other tanks have begun to be much tighter as my baby bump continues to grow and the Raw Threads tank I already have a has a little wiggle room to grow with me for now and then still have utility for me post pregnancy. Besides Disney themed apparel they also have really cute designs for holidays and running/exercise in general. The website also has beautiful medal displays (Disney themed & regular) and other accessories so definitely head on over and check them out. Below I posted four of my favorites, but there are so many more! If you are as psyched about their clothes as I am use code AMCMILLAN10 for 10% off your purchase, too!
The second place I must recommend for getting your Disney workout love together is Sweaty Bands. They have an entire sections of their website dedicated to Disney themed headbands that do not slip when you workout nor do they squeeze your head so tight that they leave you with an indent or headache by the end of your workout. I have three Sweaty Bands of various sizes and love them all because they are not only awesome at keeping sweat and hair out of my face when I run, but they also have so many awesome designs they make me want to go workout so I have a reason to wear them. Okay the last runDisney revelation I have had because of Raw Threads is that registration for non Vacation Club members does not have to be the stressful, sit by your computer pressing refresh, frantic fifteen minutes that seem to occur whenever a race registration is about to open up. Why? Raw Threads Club members get access to entries for races that are sold out. I’m serious. Right now I can register for almost any runDisney race next year through the Raw Threads Club membership I have. The membership is a little pricey ($100 a year), but they send you a shirt and $20 gift card upon your registration so that makes it cheaper in my book. I am just saying- when you really want to do the Wine and Dine but it’s already sold out this option is great. It is also nice so that you don’t have to commit 9-10 months ahead of time like you usually do with runDisney races to secure your spot. Life happens and so do injuries. I’m all about planning ahead of time, but it would be nice to not have to plan THAT far when it comes to racing.
I hope you enjoy these new finds as much as I have.
